- Animal heat stress
- Decline in forage availability and grass growth
- Climate change and hazards
- Yield and sustainability of livestock farms
In the face of these many challenges, agrivoltaics and agri-energies are the solution of choice to support agriculture in its transition and combat the effects of climate change.
- Thanks to dynamic control, this system can modulate the shading under the panels, creating favorable conditions for livestock production (forage availability thanks to shading).
- The height will be adapted to suit the animals.
- In addition to providing shade for the animals, this fixed system improves humidity and temperature conditions on the ground beneath the panels, resulting in better grass growth and therefore better feed for the herd.
- The height will be adapted to suit the animals.
- This system of fixed vertical bifacial panels, like hedges, can create a windbreak effect that limits the drying effect on the meadow.
- It also optimizes the passage of machinery to facilitate mowing.
Our teams design and dimension projects with fixed or dynamic technologies in line with the needs of cattle.
- Appropriate height of structures: protection of animals, good grass development.
- Adjusted inter-row spacing: mowed plots can continue to be mechanized.
- Fixed and movable fences: possibility of creating several paddocks.

To meet the many challenges they face and ensure the long-term viability of their operations, farmers can become players in the energy transition through agri-energies. These represent all sources of energy production derived from agricultural activities, including agrivoltaics.
Agrivoltaics is the practice of combining solar energy production with agricultural production, in synergy. Its aim is to bring benefits to the farm while producing renewable energy.
Our teams have developed tools that make it possible to determine during the development phase the technology best suited to the crop, the farmer's itinerary and the farm machinery. The height and spacing of the panels and the sensors used with the technologies can be adapted to the needs of the livestock in place.
Every project is designed with respect for the plot, from its construction using reusable, recyclable materials and a structure that limits the artificialization of the soil, to its dismantling with a site that respects the soil, biodiversity and the livestock in place.
Ombrea can implement a range of technologies adapted to the specific needs of each operation.
Several agrivoltaic technologies can meet the challenges of sheep and cattle farms. The height of the structures will be adapted to the animals:
Agri-energy provides many services for grasslands. The primary objective is to mitigate adverse climatic conditions using agrivoltaic installations, thereby improving forage production on the meadow:
Agri-energy offers numerous benefits in terms of animal welfare. To name but a few:
To launch an agrivoltaic project, for livestock, grassland or any other type of crop, you need to follow 3 distinct steps.
Initially, project definition and qualification enable us to validate the solution best suited to your needs and your farm, and to verify its feasibility. This is followed by contractualization and development, with the aim of validating the project with the relevant authorities. Finally, once the project has been completed, Ombrea operates the plant, aiming for optimum synergy between livestock protection and renewable energy production.
