TotalEnergies acquires Ombrea and creates a center of expertise dedicated to agrivoltaics

Paris, September 28, 2023 - TotalEnergies today finalizes the acquisition of Ombrea, a leader in agrivoltaics in France.

Founded in 2016 and with a dozen sites already built and some 50 crop varieties studied, Ombrea has created unique expertise and innovative solutions to optimize synergies between agricultural production and green electricity generation. By integrating Ombrea's teams and expertise into its renewable energies activities, TotalEnergies intends to accelerate its development in the field of agrivoltaics, both in France and internationally.

Under the Ombrea brand, TotalEnergies will offer the agricultural sector solutions for combining solar power and agricultural production, including solutions for protecting against the vagaries of the weather, maintaining or even improving yields, and adapting to climate change. This acquisition will also enable TotalEnergies to accelerate the development of its 1.5 GW portfolio of agrivoltaic projects, meeting the criteria of the March 2023 Renewable Energies Acceleration Act. TotalEnergies will welcome Ombrea's forty or so expert employees, as well as Christian Davico and Julie Davico-Pahin, its founders, who will be joined by TotalEnergies employees specialized in agrivoltaics at Ombrea's site in Aix-en-Provence, where the company's dedicated agrivoltaics division will be established.

" We are proud to welcome Ombrea, a French flagship in agrivoltaics, to the Compagnie. This operation will enable us to combine our expertise and know-how to accelerate the deployment of solutions that will enable the agricultural world to increase its income by producing energy, while sustaining its activities and reducing its carbon footprint ", said Vincent Stoquart, Senior Vice President, Renewable Energies at TotalEnergies.

" We are delighted that the Bouches-du-Rhône region and Aix-en-Provence have become TotalEnergies' global agrivoltaics center.

" We're delighted to be joining TotalEnergies, where Ombrea will be helping to bring the company's ambitious vision for the territories to scale. We are proud and impatient to see the deployment of our intelligent solutions accelerate in the service of high-performance, forward-looking agriculture ", say Ombrea founders Christian Davico and Julie Davico-Pahin.
